I bought the game when it was first released back at the end of 2012 and I was so happy to see that it got greenlit on steam. I’ve probably spent more than 40 hours on this game and I still keep coming back to it, replaying my favourite scenes from the memories gallery – even to this day. I can’t believe it’s already been 3 years. So what are you waiting for? Go buy the game NOW. But you can play the demo and read my review first. Either way, just buy it, it’ll be the best 30 bucks you’ve ever spent!
Generally spoiler-free review below:
“Hee-Jung is a 21 year old girl who pushes herself to be perfect at everything; yet she realizes that she does not know what she really desires. Although she lives a hectic life, she feels like she is on the road to nowhere. However, one day she encounters mysterious animals and decides to take them in. She doesn’t yet realize that this will radically change her life…”
Don’t let the initial synopsis fool you into thinking this will be a “silly” game where you “date animals”. I’ve heard people say that way too many times. Dandelion is SO much more than that. And it comes with a LOT OF FEELS. Dandelion’s an immersive story that feels like it’s from another world. Yet, at the same time, it’s incredibly realistic. It addresses many themes such as self-worth, acceptance, sacrifice and more. Cheritz handles these themes with utmost care and it delivers to the audience. I’m sure anyone can relate to at least one thing in this game and feel touched.
Writing:
The story was very well written. There were many hilarious scenes that I had to take breaks simply from laughing too hard. There were also many feel-inducing moments, which I also absolutely loved. I adore how each route is part of an overarching plot and you need to complete them in order to discover the truth and reason for everything that was going on.
Art:
The art is absolutely stunning. The colours are bright and vibrant. The characters all stand out and are very diverse in their appearances. I must admit, the visuals were the first thing that caught my attention. Both the sprites and CGs were very well done. It’s just so breath-taking and beautiful. I’m a huge fan of the artist and I’m really impressed with her talent.

Stat Raising:
While at first, the stat raising in the game was fun and cute. Over time, it became repetitive and tiring to do for all the routes. Tip: Save and Load frequently! It’s important to raise the affection of the guy you’re going after, and be sure that you focus on only one guy each playthrough if you can. The little store where you can buy items to make the star raising easier and the gifts you can buy for the guys too were cute little additions. Still, the stat raising may drive you crazy. Although, the pain of it all will be completely worth it for the characters and story! Trust me 🙂
Voice Acting:
I really have to applaud the voice actors in this game. The voice acting was incredible and all the voice actors portrayed each character amazingly. They displayed a wide variety of emotions for every scene. I really felt the character’s personalities shone through their voicesl. I also really liked how Heejung was voiced too. Personally, I like when the MC/heroine is voiced as well as everyone else since it adds more dimension and life to their characters.
Music:
Again, I really have to praise Cheritz on their music. The OP is brilliant and perfectly suits the video. The OST is just gorgeous and every time I listen to a certain track, I get Dandelion feels all over again. The different character songs suit their respective characters and some make me laugh too. Moreover, the music plays at the most perfect moments. It tugs at my heartstrings every single time. The OST is simply beautiful.
Characters:
I loved every single character in this game. They all had their own strengths and quirks that were so unique to them. Of course everyone is flawed as well, but seeing their characters grow as their routes progressed was SO great to see!
Each guy was vastly different from each other and I ended up falling in love with them all. Though, I must admit, Jiwoo ended up being my personal bias from the game. I couldn’t resist that adorable tsun-bunny ❤
The interactions between the guys themselves was very fun to watch. I love their little disagreements, especially in the beginning of the game xD They all have such different personalities, so when put together, it results in some hilarious antics.
Heejung grows as a person in every route, and while the guys change her, she changes them for the better at the same time as well. The relationships in the story have a rather equal dynamic as a result. It was a nice balance and seeing them grow together was really sweet.
Heejung was a fantastic heroine. She is kind and caring, but has a teasing snarky side to her at the same time. Due to the experiences she’s gone through her life, she is a very mature individual. I also really liked how relateable she was; at least she was to me. She tries so hard to meet her mom’s expectations and wants her mom to acknowledge her for her accomplishments. I’m very indecisive myself and I’m at that age right now where I need to decide on my future path. It’s nice to see how she develops throughout the game and how she comes to terms with her inner battles.
Overall:
Dandelion is a wonderful visual novel and I highly recommend it to anyone out there who wants to experience a beautiful story with intriguing characters.
Despite only releasing two games (Nameless is their other one, which I greatly recommend as well), they’ve already established themselves to be one of my all-time favourite otome game companies. Can’t wait for future releases from Cheritz!

Every guy in Dandelion, except for Jieun, has a bad ending. Jisoo’s is the only one that warrants CGs. However, the bad endings for the rest of the guys gives you “memories”. Getting the bad endings were a pain in the neck for me because of all the stat raising. But, if you’re a completist like me, then hopefully this will help!
The character bad routes are determined at specific checkpoints and each character has a different checkpoint. When the date of the game reaches one of these, both your stats and relationship points are checked. BOTH of these need to be below the required points.
JISOO:
Jisoo is the only one where getting hearts with other guys (you’re safe getting a heart with Jihae before December) while on his route that right away gets you his bad end.
JIHAE:
You don’t need to get hearts with other guys in Jihae’s case to get his bad end. You have to ignore Jieun – don’t even talk to him, let alone raise his affection. Then Jihae’s bad end will be confirmed some time in January 2013 (game time).
JIWOO:
Get Jiwoo’s affection maxed to 100/100 and another character’s (I picked Jisoo) affection to 80 by mid-December. From September to January 26, make sure you get one heart with all the rest.
JIYEON:
Do all the usual stuff (meet stat requirements, max his hearts, etc). Around the time he starts being in the house less (after the wallet scene I believe), STOP raising Jiyeon’s affection. Start raising Jiwoo’s (and Jisoo just in case) hearts. I’m not sure if it has to be Jiwoo, but his worked for me! Around the time Heejung’s mom tells her to come back to Seoul, you should (a) have at least one heart for Jiwoo, better if more (I had him maxed) and (b) Jiyeon’s affection should NOT be maxed. A few days after the animals leave the house, you get a scene with Heejae that should proceed differently. Bad end confirmed!
(I was able to attain both Jiyeon’s and Jiwoo’s bad ends with the help of another tumblr user)
And that’s how you get all their bad endings! Hope this helps anyone who’s still having trouble with this cause I know I did.
